What is Evacuation?
Evacuation
Transportation by air or ground to a hospital that is better able to deal with your injury or illness. This can be to another city, a neighbouring country, or back to your home country. Transportation will be arranged in the most economical way by a taxi, commercial flight, road or air ambulance.
GOOD TO KNOW
Evacuation must be ordered by the treating physician and pre-authorized by the plan administrator who will determine if your continued treatment in another hospital is medically essential and where you will be evacuated. Plan administrators typically provide air evacuation services through contracted third parties.
IMPORTANT
Standard insurance companies will not evacuate you from a remote area. Look for air ambulance assistance companies that specialize in this service.
ASK BEFORE YOU BUY
How many days does it usually take to get evacuated? Can I be evacuated to a hospital of my choice?
