What is Hospitalization?
Hospitalization
In return for coverage you need to seek medical care from an accredited and licensed medical facility with in-patient (stay for more than 24 hours) and out-patient services, an emergency unit, a physician on duty at all times, 24-hour nursing services, a laboratory and an operating room.
GOOD TO KNOW
Coverage is not provided for facilities specializing in chronic care, rehabilitation, addiction treatment or mental healthcare.
IMPORTANT
Many plans require you to get pre-authorization from the insurance administrator prior to accessing medical care. If you do not call at the time of your emergency or seek medical care outside the insurer’s medical network (also known as preferred provider organization or PPO), your emergency medical benefits will be reduced or your claim may not be approved.
ASK BEFORE YOU BUY
Can I get medical care at a hospital, medical clinic or doctor of my choice?
